Fisher-Yates shuffle, same as the main team generator. Every team in the active pool has exactly the same probability. The Golden State Warriors have the same shot as the Detroit Pistons.
The "exclude already-picked" option keeps a running list for your session. Once a team gets drawn, it's off the board until you reset. Useful when you're going through all 30 teams one at a time and need to assign each to a different person.
Are all 30 NBA teams included?
Yes. All 30 active franchises across both conferences and all 6 divisions. The pool stays current — no defunct teams, no G League teams.
Can I filter to just Eastern or Western Conference teams?
Use the conference filter at the top of the controls. Pick Eastern and you're drawing from those 15 teams only. You can combine it with a division filter too — Western + Pacific gives you the Warriors, Clippers, Lakers, Suns, and Kings.
Can I pick multiple teams at once without duplicates?
Set the number to however many you need and click once. The generator pulls from the pool without replacement, so the same team can't come up twice in one draw.
What does "exclude already-picked teams" do?
Once a team is drawn, it's crossed off for the rest of your session. Every new click only draws from teams that haven't come up yet. Hit "Reset & start over" to put all 30 back in play.
Is the result actually random or does it favor popular teams?
Actually random. Fisher-Yates gives every team in the pool an identical probability. The Lakers and Celtics have the same shot as the Pistons and Magic — exactly 1 in 30 (or 1 in however many are left in your filtered pool).
Can I use this for NBA 2K MyNBA or franchise mode?
That's one of the most common uses. Pick your team here, then start a new save with that franchise. It's a reliable way to end up in Sacramento or New Orleans instead of always choosing the same 3 contenders.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The layout stacks vertically on any phone. All buttons are tap-sized so you don't need to zoom.
